Sunday, March 6, 2016, begins Second Life’s 10th Annual Clothing Fair benefiting Relay For Life of Second Life. 14 days. Over 180 designers. 10 sims. And to date it has raised close to 20 million Linden Dollars for Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society. Come stroll around the sims, watch and listen to some wonderful inworld acts, and shop to your heart’s content – it’s all for a truly wonderful cause!
The beautiful Novaleigh Freng of ::MirrorMirror:: sent me an eye-catching little outfit that I just adore. She’s named it “Lolo”, and it will be exclusive to the fair – so you can only purchase this (and do good at the same time!) during those fourteen days.
There is a little story that comes along with this set. In Nova’s words:
In designing my special items for Fashion for Life, I thought about the people in my life who had been affected by cancer. “Lolo” was the nickname of a friend’s son who lost his battle to Neuroblastoma on 5/15/14–slightly over three months before his fourth birthday. This little boy was an amazing human being who loved bright colors, balloons, superheroes, and laughing and having a good time with his family. He is one of the reasons I relay, one of the reasons that I will never stop fighting for a cure. I am honored to be participating in Fashion for Life this year, but I am even more honored to have known such an amazing little boy.
When I found this little area, it seemed so whimsical and carefree – it reminded me of childhood. Because of who the outfit is named for, it just felt like the right place to take the photos. Not just for Lolo, but for all the children and their families who have to fight such a monster – and one that doesn’t disappear just by turning on the light or closing the closet door.
